The Elemental Slugs are the five ancient slugs of great power, and the ancestors of all slugs found in Slugterra today. In the wrong hands, they could bring Slugterra to the brink of destruction. Formerly, they were in the safe hands of the Shane Gang. Now, the Elementals (except the Energy Elemental) are now Guardian Slugs, forming a barrier to protect The Eastern Caverns from the evil hands of The Emperor.
Background[]
Elemental Slugs debuts in "Return of the Elementals", The five Elementals are ancient slugs of great power, and the ancestors of all slugs found in Slugterra today. In the wrong hands, they could bring Slugterra to the brink of destruction. So, when an evil alliance starts hunting down the Elementals, Eli and his friends — old and new — take off in pursuit of the greatest threat their world has ever faced!
In "Slug Fu Showdown", Eli has added some new ancient and powerful slugs to his arsenal, the Elementals. But the Elemental Slugs are ancient, extremely powerful, and temperamental, and Eli can’t control them. The villain needs only one thing to unleash his evil plan: the Elemental Slugs! Luckily, Eli left them with the rest of the Shane Gang, so they are safe... or they would be, if Pronto hadn’t annoyed them so much that they hopped off and ran away. As Kord, Trixie and Pronto struggle to keep the feisty Elementals out of the wrong hands, Eli and Junjie engage in a showdown with a madman before he can reduce the 99 caverns to rubble!

List of Relatives[]
The Elementals are the forebearers of all living Slugs of their respective elements and the elements related to them. If anything happens to an Elemental, something terrible will happen to all the Elemental's descendants. As shown in Return of The Elementals, if even a single Elemental is turned into a Ghoul, all the Slugs related to it will becomes Ghouls as well. Even a Healer Slug's powers can't unghoul them until the respective Elemental is unghouled.

Trivia[]
- To heal the Ghouled Caverns and save SlugTerra, all 5 Elementals must be shot simultaneously.
- Curiously, Doc is the only Elemental introduced prior to "Slugterra: Return of the Elementals", as well as the only one to have been given a name and not have been ghouled.
- Also, it appears that, at some point in the past, Doc forgot that he is an Elemental, as he only displays healing powers.
- They were mentioned in A Brief History of Slugslinging.
- In "Slugterra: Eastern Caverns", the Shadow Clan (of The 99 Caverns) point out that they haven't seen an Elemental in a thousand years.
- And apparently all 5 Elementals haven't been gathered together in a thousand years either.
- The Elemental slugs are one of the few known slugs to have legs when they transform just like Boon Docs or Hoverbugs.
- When Ghouled all of their descendants are also Ghouled.
Errors[]
- The Shadow Clan point out they haven't seen an Elemental in a thousand years prior to "Slugterra: Eastern Caverns", but the Energy Elemental (Doc) has been seen around them several times before. And in "Slugterra: Slug Fu Showdown", a brief appearance of the Shadow Clan shows them noticing Elementals flying across the sky.
- However, at least with Doc's case, as he is near-identical to ordinary Boon Doc slugs, they may simply didn't identify him.
